Champions Crowned at the Inaugural FISU World University Championship Padel 2026

The inaugural FISU World University Championship Padel came to a close on Saturday after five days of competition, held from 7 to 11 July. Student-athletes representing universities from several countries competed across the women’s, men’s and mixed events.

Women’s Competition

Spain’s Laura Luján and Águeda Pérez claimed the inaugural women’s title with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over fellow Spaniards Ana Domínguez and Ana Cristina Sánchez.

The bronze medal was awarded to France’s Bahurel and Mansart, who defeated Italy’s Ligotti and Rosi 6-4, 7-6 in the third-place match.

Finishing fifth to eighth were Italy’s Livioni and Coppola, the Netherlands’ Lomans and Bernard, Austria’s Schmid and Schöndorfer, and Ukraine’s Okhendovska and Dychka.

Men’s Competition

The men’s final featured an all-Italian contest, with Bonnefoy and Brambilla securing the gold medal after a three-set comeback victory over Platania and Iacovino, who earned silver.

Spain’s Alejandro Jérez and Ferrán González claimed the bronze medal with a 6-3, 6-4 win against compatriots Alejandro Prados and Eneko Arija.

The teams finishing fifth to eighth were the Netherlands’ Panken and Hermus, Ukraine’s Levchuk and Fomenko, France’s Courrin and Deknuydt, and Switzerland’s Brunner and Orloff.

Mixed Competition

The mixed event brought the championship to a close. Spain’s Marisol Fernández and Arnau Candelo won the gold medal after defeating France’s Bahurel and Courrin 6-1, 6-4 in the final.

The bronze medal went to Spain’s Álvaro Sola and Valeria Atencia, who also overcame a French pairing in the third-place match.

Fifth to eighth place were Poland’s Borzecka and Bilinski, Austria’s Schmid and Wutzl, France’s Mansart and Deknuydt, and Ukraine’s Dychka and Levchuk.

Nations Ranking

Spain finished at the top of the overall points standings, followed by Italy in second place and France in third.

The conclusion of the finals and medal ceremonies marked the successful completion of the inaugural FISU World University Championship Padel, bringing together university student-athletes from across the international university sports community for the first edition of the event.
